What is Gears of War?
Gears of War is a franchise that started out in 2006 on the Xbox 360 and has 5 other additions to its name. It is a horror style 3rd person shooter made originally by epic games but would later split off into the Coalition Studios. The games follow two protagonists, Marcus Phoenix and Carlos Santiago, and their journey throughout Sera trying to find an end to a never-ending war between the locust horde and the humans. While this was the main story throughout the first three games, Gears of War 4 and Gears of War 5 follow Marcus’s son, James, and Kate. In these two games the Locust have returned, and James, Marcus, and Kate try to discover how, and why they are so interested in Kate. There was one spin off of the Gears games called Gears of War: judgement. This game follows Baird and Kilo Squad chasing down General Karn, who was the main military strategist for the Horde and was the main reason for the aftermath of E-Day. Now, Speaking of E-Day, Gears of War is coming out with a Prequel that will tell where it all began.
What do we know so far about Gears of War: E-day?
We know that this game takes place 14 years before the first games story and that this means we will be back with the 2 original protagonist, Marcus Phoenix and Dominique Santiago. We also know that this game will take us through the horrific events of E-Day, which is also known as Emergence Day. If you have never played a Gears of War Game, Emergence Day is the day that the locust horde rose up from the hollow to the surface of Sera to wage war on the humans. This new installment to the franchise will also take us back to the dark, gritty, and horror style themes. Gears of war: E-Day will be released in 2026 on PS5, Xbox S/X, and PC, with more details to come at a later date. With the Gears games coming to Playstation, to all of you noobs, welcome to the CoG!
