Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Playtest Details Accidentally Leaked — Including New Wingsuit Mode

A major whoops just hit the Call of Duty universe, as internal details for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 were accidentally pushed to all Xbox users via the Call of Duty companion app. What was meant to be a hush-hush, developer-only playtest notification became a surprise info drop for the entire community.

According to CharlieIntel on X/Twitter, “An internal, developer-only Black Ops 7 playtest was set to begin this weekend.” However, instead of quietly notifying just the devs, “[Activision or developers Treyarch/Raven Software] accidentally pushed the message of the day to everyone on Xbox on the Call of Duty app, instead.”

And with that slip-up, a few spicy new multiplayer modes were revealed — modes that hadn’t been officially announced yet.

Among the leaked details:

20v20 Wingsuit Mode – A massive large-scale multiplayer mode that apparently lets players zip around maps using wingsuits, suggesting verticality and speed will play a big part.

Skirmish – No official breakdown yet, but the name implies fast-paced, close-quarters chaos.

Overload – Another mysterious new mode, possibly hinting at objective-based mayhem or oversized teams.

While Activision has yet to issue a formal statement on the accidental reveal, fans are already buzzing over the prospect of a 20v20 aerial battle mode — something never before seen in Call of Duty’s competitive scene.

Black Ops 7 is rumored to launch later this year, with Treyarch and Raven Software once again leading development duties. Whether this leak speeds up official announcements remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: the hype just took flight — wingsuit and all.
